In the Netherlands we often use 'toko' when we talk about our house or a shop. Originally it´s an Indonesian word. Under the flag of el toko, based in Vélez-Málaga (Spain) I present art, design and production of hand made objects and furniture, with a focus on recycling.
Photography is a source of inspiration and an important element in my work. Other things that gives me energy are writing blogs, short stories, reports (on- and offline).
El toko is open to art-projects, pop-up exhibitions and small scale cultural events, offering hands on services to make it happen. Ask for more information!
El toko is an example of creating your life and the way how you want to live. Besides the art, design and production, el toko is an interior design project as a whole. We renovated our old house with respect for the historical structure, by using genuine materials and playing with the light. We created spaces to live, work, eat and sleep with a low budget. As we love to recycle, you´ll see this reflected everywhere.
While renovating, small scale projects took place simultaneously. Simply because we got inspired by observing the changes and the progress, but also working with specific materials as authentic as possible. We haven´t finished yet, it´s an ongoing and natural process.
We want to inspire and are happy to provide you with personal advice if you are considering a renovation or restyling project. Find some examples under the tab "projects" - "interiors".
